FOUNDATIONAL TECHNOLOGY

Oracle

A service that delivers verified off-chain data—such as interest rates, asset prices, or FX fixings—into smart contracts on a blockchain. Without reliable oracles, on-chain financial contracts cannot reference real-world market conditions.

EXAMPLE

Chainlink's oracle network feeds real-time SOFR rates into on-chain interest rate swap contracts, replacing the manual rate-setting process in traditional ISDA confirmations.
